The wines
Our vineyard in Puisseguin and its winemaking methods
The Château des Faures vineyard is spread over clay-limestone and loamy soils and is made up of noble grape varieties :
- 80% Merlot, which brings finesse and fruitiness to the wine
- 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
- 5% Cabernet franc, the cabernets which give body and structure to the wine, and ensure long aging
Mechanical harvesting allows a selection of optimal maturity according to the plots (age, location and grape varieties) and to harvest the grapes at the right temperature in order to encourage the start of fermentation in good conditions.
A vineyard with sustainable cultivation and regulated winemaking. Today, the sustainable cultivation of the vineyard offers respect for our terroir and our environment.
Three weeks before the expected harvest date, samples are taken from the vineyard in order to monitor the progress of the maturity of the grapes and to wait for the optimal stage to harvest; which allows us to vinify peacefully and preserve all the flavor of the fruit.
- The vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats equipped with thermoregulation in order to provide particular care to each vat
- Long vatting (3 to 4 weeks) allows for better extraction. Daily checks and analyzes are assisted by an oenologist during alcoholic and malolactic fermentation.
- Gentle and material-friendly pressing using a vertical press
The result of our work as winegrowers is tasty Côtes de Bordeaux appellation wines, offered in our online range and for direct sale on the estate.
